In a fast-paced world, hustle culture glorifies non-stop productivity which can make it easy to feel guilty for taking a break. However, our minds and bodies need downtime to recover and function at their best. Ignoring the need for rest can lead to burnout, anxiety, decreased productivity, and other mental and physical health issues. Prioritizing rest nurtures our creativity, improves focus, and maintains emotional balance. Embrace rest as a crucial part of your journey and watch your overall well-being flourish. For many people journaling can keep them stuck in the spirals they are desperately seeking to avoid. There is merit in spilling out your thoughts to create some separation between you and them and the "Brain Dump" is the perfect work around for many people with anxiety. This is a tool that offers a way of getting your thoughts out of your mind and onto paper without adding the worry of what you are meant to write. This way of putting your thoughts onto paper is so much faster and less formal than journaling-so wave goodbye to literary perfection and hello to space between you and your worries! ... This Memorial Day, we honor and remember those who sacrificed their lives for our country. While we celebrate and honor their courage, let's also acknowledge the profound emotional impact on those left behind. Grieving can be a challenging and personal journey. Grief is not something that simply goes away, but we can grow with our grief by giving ourselves permission to feel all the feels and by reaching out for support. If you know someone who is grieving during this season, reach out and offer kindness to those who are mourning. #memorialday #mentalhealth #griefsupport ... See MoreSee Less

Sara Micham MA, LPCC Healing Connections

Sara Micham
MA, LPCC-S, Clinical Supervisor

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

Sara is a compassionate and caring counselor who prioritizes providing a safe space for people to share their stories. Her approach is one of respect and unconditional positive regard. She believes strongly in the importance of connection and that fostering a kind and supportive environment is the key to building a trusting partnership on a journey to positive and sustainable change.  Her desire is that people will feel heard and empowered to more successfully navigate through their struggles rather than fight against them or be reduced by them. Sara has been working with children, teenagers, adults, and families for over 15 years. Specific focus areas of her work are chemical dependency issues, trauma related concerns, attachment related issues, depression, anxiety, relational conflict, parent-child relationships, and adoption related concerns.

Utilizing an eclectic tool kit of resources- her clinical approach is grounded in person-centered and strengths-based theory with the use of an array of tools including EMDR, neuroscience, and solution focused with cognitive behavioral approaches. Sara is trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Polyvagal Theory, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR, as with most therapy approaches, focuses on the individual’s present concerns. The EMDR approach believes past emotionally charged experiences are overly influencing your present emotions, sensations, and thoughts about yourself. EMDR processing helps break through the emotional blocks that are keeping you from living an adaptive, emotionally healthy life.

Sara is dedicated to partnering with individuals on their healing journey. She is passionately committed to helping individuals and families on their journey towards healing and wellness.
